Before the Armed Detective Agency existed, Yukichi Fukuzawa worked alone as a bodyguard until he met Ranpo Edogawa, a brilliant and difficult boy whose ability to notice what everyone else misses changes both of their lives. A strange murder case brings them together and lays the foundation for the Agency. In the present, Ranpo's investigations lead into a conspiracy designed specifically to destroy that organization from within. The Agency is framed for crimes that brand its members as terrorists, the military Hunting Dogs begin pursuing them, and the Decay of the Angel moves behind the scenes. Once trusted by the city, the detectives are left without safe ground and may need help from old enemies to prove they have not suddenly become what everyone believes.
