Fourteen-year-old Renton Thurston lives in the quiet town of Bellforest and dreams of escaping to join Gekkostate, the rebel group he idolizes. He spends his time “lifting” on the Trapar waves in the air while his grandfather wants him to become a mechanic and the legacy of his dead heroic father hangs over everything he does.

Then a strange machine called the Nirvash typeZERO crashes into the family workshop, piloted by a mysterious girl named Eureka who needs repairs. The encounter becomes Renton’s ticket into Gekkostate and the adventurous life he imagined, but he soon learns the group is nothing like the image in his magazines, and that Eureka and the Nirvash are tied to a war and secrets far beyond a teenager’s dream. As her co-pilot, he begins learning the reality of the world he wanted so badly to enter.
