Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 1: Hajimari no Monogatari

Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka meet Kyubey, who offers to grant any wish in exchange for their becoming magical girls and fighting witches hidden behind strange accidents and tragedies. Mami Tomoe guides them through their first encounters and shows the appealing side of that power, while mysterious transfer student Homura Akemi behaves as though she already knows the future and tries desperately to keep Madoka from making a contract. The battles soon reveal a far harsher reality than the girls expected, and Kyoko Sakura enters the conflict with her own view of what magical power is for. With every loss, choosing a wish becomes heavier, because one miracle can open the door to despair no one anticipated.
