Jigokuraku

Gabimaru the Hollow is a professional assassin sentenced to death, yet his body refuses to surrender to every execution attempt. He claims he no longer wants to live, but swordswoman Yamada Asaemon Sagiri recognizes what he is hiding: a wife he wants to return to and a peaceful life he never truly abandoned. The shogunate offers him a pardon in exchange for retrieving the Elixir of Life from a mysterious island described as paradise. Gabimaru arrives with other condemned criminals, each watched by an executioner and willing to kill rivals for freedom. The island is worse than all of them, hiding lethal creatures and seemingly immortal beings beneath breathtaking beauty. Survival depends on deciding who can be trusted in a paradise built from death.
