Haruka reaches the world stage believing he understands what he wants from swimming, only for Albert Volandel to shake that certainty with ability that seems unreachable. Instead of asking for help, Haruka buries himself in harsher training and gradually distances himself from the friends who carried him this far. Rin, Makoto, and the others can see that chasing speed alone is stripping away the reason he loved the water, but nobody can make the decision to return for him. As decisive races approach and each swimmer begins choosing a different future, Haruka is forced back to a question simpler than records or rankings: why does he swim at all, and who does he want to be when the race is over?
