Hakuouki

In Kyoto during the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate, Chizuru Yukimura disguises herself as a boy while searching for her missing father, Koudou. One dangerous night leads her to the Shinsengumi and to a horrifying secret: pale, bloodthirsty warriors called Rasetsu are roaming the city, and the Shinsengumi know far more about them than they are willing to reveal.

Because Koudou is also connected to their investigation, Chizuru remains under the Shinsengumi's protection and continues her search beside them. As political unrest pushes Kyoto toward open conflict, she becomes entangled with the warriors' loyalties, the mysterious Water of Life, and a truth about her father that may be inseparable from the unnatural soldiers haunting the capital.
