Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Simon lives in the underground village of Jeeha, where generations have known little beyond tunnels and stone ceilings. While digging, he discovers a tiny drill and then a mysterious machine, while his loud, fearless friend Kamina insists an entire world exists above them. He is proven right when a giant robot crashes through the village roof, followed by an armed surface girl named Yoko.

Simon pilots the small machine, Lagann, in his first battle and then escapes to the surface with Kamina and Yoko. There they discover that Beastmen and their Gunmen keep humanity driven underground. Kamina's dream of freedom begins as the adventure of three people and grows into a rebellion determined to challenge the limits of their world itself.
