Yami Shibai

As evening falls, a man in a yellow mask appears before children and opens a simple paper theater. He tells no heroic adventures, only Japanese rumors and urban incidents: a talisman in a new apartment, a figure standing where nobody should be, or a ritual whose rules were passed down without explanation. The stiff images and limited movement make every change deliberate, leaving the worst details in what is not shown. The victims never repeat, so nobody can benefit from the last person's experience. The storyteller never explains where his tales came from; he closes one nightmare and opens the next as if fear is always nearby, waiting for someone to notice it.
